Bio
DONG Jie is Professor of Sociolinguistics at Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. Her research focuses on sociolinguistics and linguistic anthropology, with a particular interest in language globalization, language identity, ethnography, linguistic landscaping and new media. Her publications include The Sociolinguistics of Voice in Globalising China (Routledge), Discourse, Identity, and China’s Internal Migration (Multilingual Matters), Ethnographic Fieldwork (with Jan Blommaert, Multilingual Matters), and a number of research articles in peer-reviewed journals. She serves as co-editor of Language & Communication and is the principal investigator of research projects funded by the National Social Science Fund of China and the Beijing Social Sciences Fund.
